Steps I follow to Monetizing a New YouTube Channel

Step 1: Creating a clear definition of the target audience

The first step in monetizing a YouTube channel is to understand who the target audience is and what they are interested in. So the 1st thing I do after understanding the channel’s purpose I create a chart to define who are the potential visitors of this channel. I obtain this information through market research, surveys, and analysis of competitors, for this purpose I basically use multiple free online tools.

Step 2: Optimize content for search engines

The next step is to optimize the channel’s content for search engines. There are multiple online tools available for doing this research and implementing those research result in my videos. The 2 most popular tools are VidIQ & TubeBuddy. I use both these tools based on channel requirements. For this, you need to include relevant keywords in the video titles, descriptions, and tags. The channel can also utilize search engine optimization (SEO) tools to increase visibility in search results.

Step 3: Engage with the audience

I always prefer to keep communication channels open with my audience by responding to comments. Asking my audience for feedback & suggestions about how to improve or what kind of content they are asking for is always helpful for this purpose. I do also create polls from time to time. Once I reach my goal of 1000 subscribers after that I create a community by hosting live streams and Q&A sessions.

Step 4: Collaborate with other YouTubers

I love collaboration instead of confrontation. I work with other channels in a similar category with a similar target audience. This help to increase visibility and attract new subscribers. Collaborations can be in the form of guest appearances, cross-promotion, and joint content creation.

Step 5: Utilize paid advertising

I use Paid Advertising to reach a wider audience which helps me for exponential growth. This can be done through YouTube’s advertising platform, Google AdWords, or other advertising platforms. The channel must ensure that the advertising is targeted to the right audience to maximize the return on investment.

Whenever I take charge of any YouTube channel to work, I prefer a plan for monetization, and I call it “Monetize your YouTube Channel in 100 days“.
